AMS Block Party Release Stacked Line-up [GIVEAWAY]
It's the first day of Spring, which means it's almost time for UBC's end of year celebration aka the AMS Block Party. This year's event is categorically the biggest line-up a Canadian campus has ever seen. Read on to find out a bit more about each act as well as how you can be in with a chance of winning tickets for you and your team (or just scroll to the bottom for competition details if you already know what's good).
In no particular order of calibre OR musical preference, here are the artists at the 11th Annual Block Party:
Having had a sensational breakout year in 2015 with some low-key achievements i.e. making the XXL Freshman cover, the Washington, DC native spring-boarded off of his mixtape success and released his studio album At What Cost almost a year to the day. Grammy nominated, platinum certified and with an untouchable flow, if we're having to explain GoldLink to you, I suggest you don't bother with the rest of this write-up and return to your preferred mis-spelt publication (wagwan Ubyssey).
A world dominating figure in the electronic music sphere, chances are TroyBoi has already put down a set everywhere you're trying to holiday this year (and it's only March). Any consistent reader of ours will know how much we rate the unique sound the London-raised creative has been pioneering. Having completed his Left is Right world tour and becoming the newest resident DJ of Drai's Las Vegas, the trap wizard is out to bless the people this summer.
I spy with my little eye, a really pleasant rapper that goes by his real name, Kyle. A refreshing switch up to the lil's and youngs of today, his positivity has garnered him a multi-platinum record as well as Hollywood acting roles to name but a few achievements to date. 2017 was a tremendous breakout year for the creative, 2018 looks to build on those successes.
This 20 year old took the internet by surprise with Soundcloud power single Lose Myself, featuring Phil Good. Established, long time artists aspire to get the kind of streams K?D has been racking up on his SC. The kid can produce.
Another trap/future bass aficionado, Tails has the type of beats that'll get you grooving like it's day onesie at the Amphitheatre, Shambhala. The Vancouver local is set to take on the festival circuit this season and with a production style that has gained him a notorious following - he's well and truly equipped to take on any location from big room venues to giant open air stages.
Local prodigy ILLYMINACHI has been on his hustle. December saw the drop of ILLYMINIACHI's anticipated project Few And Far Between. With a foundation in Rap and R&B, his sound is smooth and his story telling carries a reality that is not so common place in Vancouver. Some "small" achievements for this relative new comer include being announced alongside the likes of MIGOS & lil Pump for Breakout Festival.
So either you've read all this and really want to go or you skipped straight to here and you're just trying to get your hands on tickets for you and 2 of your crew (that's 3 tickets up for grabs!).
