Childish Gambino Guns Down Choir [WATCH]

Gambino season is upon us. The first single from Donald Glover’s forthcoming album was released late last night, titled “This Is America.”

Taking clear shots at the current state of the dystopian reality for the African diaspora, the song provides a visual dialogue teamed with a catchy African drum beat that Bino’s body can’t help but be moved by.

Seamlessly combining Gambino’s love of George Clinton with the Atlanta trap sound, feature adlib vocals appear from ATL’s heavyweights; 21 Savage, Quavo, Young Thug, Big Sean, and others.

The beginning of the song wouldn’t have been out of place on Glover’s last effort, “Awaken, My Love!”, but like much of his other work, it takes a turn for the surreal very quickly. Directed by Hiro Murai, this piece of cinematic brilliance incorporates the one take shot reintroduced into pop culture by Lil Skies’ Welcome to the Rodeo (as an homage to Lil Wayne’s Amilli).
